Summer 2020
Summer truly arrived this week with the hot temperatures we expect in interior BC. It had been a slow start to many of the typical summer activities… which seemed somehow appropriate in this challenging year of the pandemic.
However, despite 3 separate high water peaks, cooler than usual weather and a strong crop of mosquitos (rare in our desert climate), many things were still accomplished by our fantastic volunteers.
The landscaping has taken some great strides forward.
Parking areas for boats and trailers have been substantially increased.
Our private road has been smoothed/graded and is in very good shape.
Dock repairs have been completed.
And, in especially exciting news… Our new pickleball/basketball court has been competed (pictures have been added in the gallery). It took a great team effort to make this happen - and, it was all done at a very modest cost to the Strata.
We have also moved forward with a new application to extend our foreshore lease with approval requested for a planned breakwater (wave attenuation system). Again, the behind the scenes work has required a lot of time and effort from our council and volunteers.
Argo Road Maintenance also deserves a “shout out” for doing an excellent job grading Sabiston Creek Road this month. It really is a pleasant drive on the north side of the lake.
We are all anxiously awaiting a vaccine breakthrough that will help us move past the pandemic. However, for now, we are very lucky to have access to a place like Caliente where social distancing is relatively easy and the world problems seem a little further away.
